Gb oils is it bad Drivers, bad Mangers or a bad Union

GB Oils is it bad Drivers,Mangers or a bad Union.

I have been asked by a few driver just when is the Union going to get of it's backside and help? the workforce that pays their "fat wages

(Driver One)
I would just like say what a shower gb oils are recently took a winter relief drivers which was supposed to last 5 months, 2months in, the board whoever they may be decided in there wise wisdom due to current conditions to finish the contract leaving me high and dry. I am just wondered how many people would take a job for 2 months not many i would suggest they also seem to have a habit of getting rid of shop steward s perhaps they something to hide but my sympathy lies with all you guys that are left because they have no value of drivers who are experienced or otherwise. What a ruthless shower for such a big company with such a narrow vision anyone wishing to contact me feel free and i will tell it how it is.
(Driver Two)
I was a driver at F Peart Co for 15 years till this monster came in and turned the place upside down, like above i was driving a wagon that had been apparently scrapped 2 weeks before,so i was driving a veh which was declared scrapped, yet they claim to be realy strict on vehicle roadworthyness lol!!they treat me like shxt for my last 2 mnths till i left and went to an independent company.nearly all gb drivers cant stand who they work for now, they are also worried that 1 mistake and your out the door if they so wish.i hate this company and so do many others, goodluck gb oils drivers.....

The checky bastards have even written on there enough is enough poster that if the main fleet wages come down then then AD's will have to follow what a load of rubbish they just want are support to help protect there inflated wages well I wish I could get 30-40 grand a year for one of two drops a day and where is there support for us we have put up with a complete change and abuse of our working conditions and our brothers on main fleet have been nowhere as long as the union goes running to protect them thats the main thing we are better of getting rid of unite cos they be shite and as for the shop stewards why dont you try ringing the big cheese's webb or drapper guess what they are to busy spending your membership money on there inflated wages

I also hear they have suspended 3 drivers in the northwest, 1 for poss on his phone, 1 for loading to much product on his truck which other depots do aswell and 1 for sitting in his truck at a cutomer.
i hope these drivers go to court and make the whole thig public so the customers can see too how well they treat and trust there frontline staff.

Any driver on his personal mobile in a vehicle should be fired. It's company policy plain and simple! If he's overloaded the vehicle. How? If it's a terminal you shouldn't be loading on top of product and if it's depot then the driverhas obviously used the scully over ride, which again is breaking policy... I protect my drivers any way I can, but if they can't follow simple instructions they bring the realism of dismal on themselves!!!

with the amount we pay towards the union would it not be possible to create our own inhouse union .i dont know the legalities of it but i'd rather pay into something where we'd get something back.i seem to recall that we had a 90 odd% vote to take action but the union fucked about saying we have to check addresses etc. then hey-ho ,too late summer's here. had a job for kero with v.a.t. it was over 90 p a litre!!!!!!!keep going like that there won't be any customers left.the company would rather have commercial work that makes a small margin of couple pence as against (if they could hold back there greed & make a reasonable margin) of up to 10 p .surely the profit on kero is far greater.am i right or wrong.i appreciate i'm just a 2 a penny driver so perhaps someone could explain it to me!

Don't forget to keep your lunch money in your pockets boys ! Someone's after it ! No pay no work in my rule book ! Pension next boys ! If it's in your contract don't accept it , go to the union and we will hopefully get some action ! The reason they are charging 90p plus a ltr for kero is the sales are down a lot ! Short term gain long term pain ! Customers not happy at all and most don't forget ! All seems to be going wrong as far as I can see , but what do 25 year drivers know ! 2 a penny and grow on trees !

its the loyal customers on automatic top ups this company is ripping off and they are catching on to what we are doing and we are losing business however they will sell to a non loyal commercial customer for a 1p litre profit. we are going to have no customers left soon and what can those greedy union twats do about that? answers on a post card addresed to Paul Vian, GB oils, Warrington. The whole company is going down the pan because of greed and thick managment

One of the jocks would have you paying for the privilege to work for this lot.Thats how good the forum is.

I know that this is a drivers' blog, but disgruntled customers like me would like to get a full list of GB Oils subsidiaries so that we can be sure that we are not buying from GB Oils. As someone who had been a customer since they took over all the oild deliveries in Elland, I only recently found out that they were ripping me off by over 10p a litre on kerosen, despite being paid up front by standing order. When I cancelled the contract, they said that if I had contacted them first they would have reduced the price.

      Delete
  33. Anonymous9:07 PM

The issue with addresses is that your card will be posted from a central point. They don't necessarily know which contract you work for or at which location you work. All of this info is vital for any ballot to be legal. I'm not defending the union here, just pointing out a fact. I also know that a previous comment was correct in that the union has been promising to get our data organised for more than 2 years and are still no further forward. Apparently, it's a funding issue. Another comment was also correct that the workforce choose not to back their stewards, but even if the workforce wanted to back their stewards they couldn't anyway because our data isn't in order and any ballot would fail because of this fact alone. Catch 22 then. I suggest that if you're unhappy, write to Matt Draper at head office in Holborn London copying in Len McCluskey and tell them what you think and ask how they would like it if we all stopped paying our dues to them and joine URTU or similar. If enough of us do this we may get results

why do you keep slagging the artic drivers ? we all have a chance in life to better ourselves so if you pay out of your own pocket like i did to get my class 1 then wait 18 months to get on artics for better pay what is wrong with that. to many people short sighted i think. if you want a debate then lets have 1. im all for work to rule but there are to many of you who look after number 1 and when it goes wrong you look for some one to blame.

Comment on Apr 17 at 07:21 why do you consider that by being an "artic driver" your better than any other driver working for GB Oils ? It is this kind of attitude that creates divisions between drivers. I have worked on either side of the fence, on both artics and now on a ridged tanker, mostly delivering to domestic customers. I can have up to 20 drops in a day, in what I consider is a far harder and skilled job, than driving an artic doing perhaps 2 drops a day. But, I realise that we need to work together as a team and that I'm no better or worse than you, even if my tankers not as big !!!!

perhapes what all tanker drivers in the uk should do is start their own union up may be we could call it ntu the national tanker driver's union, we could recruit every driver in every sector of the industry as long as the driver's stuck together every time an employer behaves the way gb oils behaves. "Everyone's out the door". Then wouldnt the big oil companies soon get pissed off with paddy o fuels. Unite dosn't care and its no good people coming on here saying its not the union's fault its the drivers not sticking together the common worker needs leadership not vast amounts of money lifted out of their pockets by a union that stands back and allows all of these companies to act the way they are acting, in fact fuck it lets stop coming on here winging lets start a campaign to set our own union up,, Ive spoken to a lot of main fleet drivers who feel the same way, and they would be interested in a union that deals with our problems and not every-body else's. Are you with me all will someone come on here issuing me a load abuse trying to justify the fact "unite are shite". We need leadership and we need it going in to this winter before more damage is done to your jobs, and now with Total Butler coming in to the company they will be getting rid of more and more drivers and guess what no one will be able to get hold of that lazy cunt Matt Drapper. Can we start a new link on here?, to debate the fact that the union does fuck all for us and we now want to start our own at the vary least it will frighten the shit out of unite and our employers. Also Ive looked into the logistics of starting a union and its alot easier they you might think I've approached some top employment barristers and they will provide a lot better legal service then unite will. The money taking in for this new union would be for admin and the driver's welfare not great big salary's for people like Drapper who can't even be arssed to answer his phone. Thank you for taking your time to read this. "Its time to give dignity back to the driver".
