GB Oils National Wage Negotiations

Dear All
First of all A Happy New Year to you all, that work with the DCC Group

Well it's back to work for most of us.
From what i hear there is going to be a meeting in the middle of January 2011 in an effort to
progress the above negotiations and potentially find a way forward on a number
of matters.
In the last few months we have lost a lot of senior Shop Stewards due to Illness, personal and victimisation.
So it will be time for all of you to put your money where your mouth is and step up and fill the empty void the that has been left.
Now their will be a lot of posts about ass kissing with the company but this is the way big business works if they come back and propose a new deal, then the Union must look at it and then ask you the membership what you think.
We all know what money that the oil companys have made so we will just have to see what happens.
As we get the news we will update you, but the news is slow at geting back now so keep the faith.
One more time Happy New Year from all at the Blog

It seems that GB have won as they WILL put a minimal improved offer on the table.By the time that has happenend and it has been batted and balled back and forth between the union ,the spring will be upon us and then a strike call will be futile. They have laughed in nhe face of us the workforce and you the union! Happy New Year

This job has gone to the dogs. It used to be a good job but now gb run it they haven't got a clue and treat us drivers like something they have stepped on. H&s is a laugh as gb put profits b4 safety and shud any1 do the slighest thing wrong management r on us.

Gb need to remember u can have as many manages clerks sales staff etc and have more orders than they can cope with but they r nothin without drivers

We shud all stick together and tell unite ballot us now and see the outcome

i cannot understand how the union can go back to the table when we the drivers have told them we want to take action.was all that about getting our addresses correct before taking action just a way of stalling till spring gets here.over the past year my uniun guy has passed on our details at least twice.lot of ballocks.someone is on the take whilst we get shafted.

7.39 has hit the nail squarely on the head, what have we got to negotiate with without the ballot result??? Mmmmm, i know, our jobs, F##cking good idea that. I hadn't been a member of a union for a long time, never needed to, pre Gb i worked for a company that respected its drivers, and we respected the company. I was on a good contract, the managment realised that mistakes can be made 'and i made a couple of howlers' but you weren't in fear of looseing your job all the time. Soon after the takeover i got Gb weighed up for what they are, so joined the union. WHY!!! If Gb want to get rid of me, they will in a blink of an eye and i wouldn't get any help, i feel let down after the initial ballot showing huge support for the union and were going to get serious sorting out the pay and conditions of all the Gb drivers. But the worst thing about it is i am paying union subscriptions for the privilege of feeling like a peace of shite at work, well if something dosn't happen SOON then i will be cancelling my membership and take my chances.

Are you lot for real??? when a company comes back to the table you can not just turn around and say we will not play the Union must talk to the company. But this will not stop the ballot all it means is it's on hold!!! you don't know the company could come back with a offer of 10%.
A lot of you think this blog is the Union well it's not it was set up for the work force not just the drivers it's for all.
But before you post think ????

Call me a cynic, but on the news tonight Unite are going to ballot 3000 tanker drivers with the intention of strike action.
Seem a bit suspicious to me, maybe unite are using us as a pawn in a bigger game. Like most people have said we have missed the boat again ref industrial action, i can't see anything coming out of this meeting but i live in hope.

Most of you lot amaze me. There is the odd intelligent comment like the last two but in the main you lot don't have the brains you were born with! Just remember that each time you make a comment against your union, your steward or your fellow drivers, the management who monitor this blog, are taking note and the credibility and strength of your NNC is diminished with each comment. It's the company who stall the process and they are very good at it. DON'T underestimate them. The only way you will beat them is by sticking together but by the look of this blog you will never do that because you all seem hell bent on beating each other about the head verbally. Good luck anyway

I dont understand the new offer is it 4% for last year or 4% for this year on top of the already imposed 3% last year

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anonymous7:56 PM

im with 12.29 is it 1% on top of the 3% weve had or another 4% all we get is rumours???

  19. Is the Blog still running as there hasn't been much on there lately? If it is could you please put this on. 2011 Pay Rise?? We have no Shop Steward at our Depot and our manager has put a letter on this notice board stating the 4% increase. Are the union sending ballot papers to home addresses of all drivers??? Why has it been published like this? Not very good when some Non union members got to see this information before union members. If we don't get to vote on this( similar to last years imposed rise) what is the point in being a union member??? Kind Regards A Frustrated Union Member Northern Region

  20. Anonymous5:12 PM

I was under the impression that we were being given the opportunity to vote for industrial action because GB Oils were not prepared to offer more than the 3% that they have now imposed on us.
If unite are to send me a ballot paper to vote in favour of industrial action to back the so called ' majors drivers' then they can go f*ck themselves.

the union members at our depot got a ballot at the weekend with a letter from the company and the union advicing member to accept the offer but the letter doesnt state clearly what the offer is for ie last year or this year

  22. Anonymous7:02 PM

Is this being back-dated for the last what 3-4 yrs we have all been waiting?? also as mentioned earlier is this a further 4% on-top of is it tuff you have had 3% now your getting 1% on-top??

As for the letter on the notice boards about this basically what GB is doing is saying please lads were SHITTING ourselves and dont strike!!

Anyone agree as they are now desperate for us not to strike and we get further %% out of them????

Extreme weather conditions helped DCC achieve strong results in the third quarter, as icy conditions throughout northern Europe drove demand at its energy division.
In an interim management statement this morning, the company said it achieved very strong growth in revenue and operating profit in the quarter ended December 31st 2010.

"With the exceptionally cold weather conditions throughout northern Europe, particularly in the last six weeks of the quarter, customer demand in DCC Energy, DCC’s largest division, increased significantly," it said.

Despite poor road conditions and constraints on supply, volumes at DCC Energy rose by 22 per cent, the group said.
We are MUGS if 4% is all we get

I will vote NO to accepting the 4% offer.
They can afford more no doubt.
They don't suddenly turn into Mr nice guys from December when we were told there was no more on the table and that we will be paid the 3% whatever.
Then there was the sweetener with the £200 bonus.
Their short and curlies are being strangled and they are starting to realise it hurts, keep strangling and hurt them more, vote NO.

when watsons took over collinson in the south east, watsons upped collinson's drivers wages (which was a few grand per driver,so i hear ) to bring them in line with there own drivers pay.why cant dcc do the same .i dont need any comments back .we all know.greed

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous7:49 PM

3.52..... Almost right, but it's not only greed. If they unify all of your terms and conditions including pay then you will all be exactly the same. Yes I know that sounds obvious, but look at it from their point of view. Instead of being at each others throats like you are now (which suits the company) you will all be singing the same song. They don't want this because you are very likely to hold them to ransome year after year and this will cost them dearly. For example, the wage bill for drivers is around £26 million. If you held them to ransome because you all stood together and achieved an extra 1 or 2% every time. This would cost them between £250,000 and £500,000 extra each year. That's partly the reason they want you all divided.

spoke with a shop steward the other day and yes he did confirm a 4% pay rise that the company has agreed to, But one little thing he did say thay stuck in my mind was, i quote he said the company will be back-dating the 4% to January.

ITS only fucking Febuary now so in this has the company finally fucked us all over by back-dating our money for a month when we have been fighting for years!!??

If this is correct and the shop steward was right i say shove the 4% up your shiney hole and let's fight on....

  28. Anonymous6:02 PM

has the 4% been accepted or not and why does the union no longer post on this blog or has it been shut down as there is no longer any reps to ask
