Whats going on with GB Oils, Union and Blog

A lot of you have been asking about the lack of activity by the Union on the Blog well as you all know this blog does not belong to the Union!!! But at the moment due to the NNC losing a lot of members due to personal, sickness and sackings we have to get a new committee set up from all around the country and also get a new JCC up and running.

Now the company has got what they wanted when this happened by get there pay rise out to the workforce. As you all know the company has made a lot of money over the last few years so what you are getting is a drop in the ocean to DCC.

The workforce has accepted the poor pay offer of 4% so don’t moan to the blog or blame your Shop Stewards or the Union. You and only you guys got to vote on it.

More worrying is what is happing around the Country we have received a lot of e mails from Drivers that the Company is just doing what it wants when it comes to how different brands and Managers deal with incidents, spills, crossovers and all that comes with the job.

It has been told that in some depot’s some driver can get away with murder and in the same depot with the same incident another driver can end up with a written warning ? is the fair NO of course not it is victimizing the drivers that are willing to stand up for theirs self’s yet if you are a YES man you can do what you want and get away with it .

So what we are looking for is examples of incidents of spills, crossovers, RTA from all depots and all brands and the out comes so we can build up a bigger picture from around the Country.

We are doing this so that all the workforce have a fair place to come to work free from bullying and intimidation and its not just for the yes men.

The Union will be looking to recruit more shop stewards so its up to you guys if you want to help. You can contact Fraser on is e-mail or a shop steward.

As to some of the comments saying that the blog should shut down well that’s up to the workforce if you are not reading it then there is no a use for it ? But going by the figures there is still a need for it.

And if you are a driver asking for it to close then you must be up to things that you should not be. ( it will all come out in the wash )

Some have complained that what is said about the company is bad for jobs? Well its what the customers say that you should be worrying about.

The trouble is the truth hurts and know the customer now the truth it’s going to take a long time for the to trust the Company and its work force as we are all tarred with the same brush.

Yours Fraser

the letter i got said your union is advising you to take the 4% so all the blame cant lie with the drivers and as for the pay rise we still havnt been told it has been accepted.the problem with the union is very little drivers have faith in it because the pepole that have been bullied sacked victmized have had little help from the union when they needed it most some i know of have been told you have no chance of winning or you will be sacked .
I know this is unlikely to be posted but these are facts from drivers who have been victimized or sacked .so union start helpping drivers when they need help and maybe you will start to get the support that is needed

Hang on a minuteFraser, wasnt this 4% pay offer recommended for acceptence by the NNC?,the result of the last ballot hasn"t even been fed back to its members at least not to my depot!!
Lastly you talk about a new NNC commitee because of sackings and sickness, all well and good but what we really need is good local shop-stewards in all depots to look after drivers which in turn will lead to
better comunication with those on the NNC.

Yes thats okay but you are the Union !!!if you did not like the deal that was on offer you and only you had the chance to say no. Then the Union would have to work harder to get you more for you.
As for been bullied yes i know whats going on but in till the work force take a stand then it will go on.
As for faith in your Union is that Unite? or the boys on the ground? If you have a case and proof of whats going on the you will win your case. But is it hear say then you wont.
I hope this is of help but if not send me a e-mail.

im not a union member cos i believe it is a waste of money and my point has been proved. we have members at our depot who have no contact with shop stewards and have never recieved a ballot to have a say on pay offers

so the union advices you to accept something then because they dont like it they blame us for accepting it .this union is getting as bad as this company at moving the goalposts.as for proof this company is good at setting pepole up so they cant prove anything but the point is the union for some reason will not help .as for taking a stand plenty of driver were screaming out for a ballot to take a stand but the union did not make this happen it was just delay hear nothing for ages delay delay delay hear nothing then a ballot arrives with an offer of 4% and the union asking us to accept it so dont blame members for accepting it when it was on union advice.I dont know what the union is up to with this bullshit .

Hold on a minute you lot. I did not vote yes for this deal. The Union offered me advice and i took my own??? If the Union asked you to take a pay cut would you have voted yes on it??? No i don’t think so. This is what wrong with this company no one will think for themselves. As for now shops Stewards well let’s see how many of you lot will put their names forward to do the job.
But one more time this is not a Union Blog
    Cheers Fraser

Fraser you are still missing the point, i put myself forword to be a shop steward in the North East area as requested by the full time co-ordinater from leeds still have not heard anything 8 months on(copy of e-mail can be provided).Communication is still a big problem!! drivers are willing to become stewards.I think the majority of drivers felt the time was running out coming into spring and accepted the improved 4% which was recommended by the union. I can only speak for my depot and we are not having a go at anybody ,and while ever you keep posting messages people will respond.

i work at a depot in the north of england and we as drivers are a mixed bag from different companys .we took over a company a short while ago and the company we took over ended up running our depot.it now trancpires that the drivers from the company gb oils took over can do no wrong ie they work half a day and get paid for a full shift but the gb oil drivers work a full day but you cant complane because the management from the company that gb oil took over are running it what a bummer

union dont want to be involved they say it makes things worse same as when there is a disaplinary they wont get involved the union is beat in this company lets face it poor communacation not listining to members when it is a good time to strike as we have them over a barrel but still pepole are made redundant or sacked but as long as the dues come in each month why should they give a f**k

as an employee of gb would like to say apart from directors and senior managers the rest of staff are paid a lot less than drivers so when offered a freebee we will accept because i know for defo i earn a hell of a lot less than a driver!!!!!

Yeah ditto on the above comment. Am sick of hearing drivers slag off office staff for working less hours. We get paid less. We do an admin/sales job. No we don't have to work out in all weathers or start at 6am. If you want to work 9-5 in an office then apply for an office job and be prepared for a paycut. Simples.

i would just like say what a shower gb oils are recently took a winter relief drivers which was supposed to last 5 months 2months in, the board whoever they may be decided in there wise wisdom due to current conditions to finish the contract leaving me high and dry just wondered how many people would take a job for 2 months not many i would suggest they also seem to have a habit of getting rid of shop steward s perhaps they something to hide but my sympathy lies with all you guys that are left because they have no value of drivers who are experienced or otherwise what a ruthless shower for such a big company with such a narrow vision anyone wishing to contact me feel free and i will tell it how it is
