GB Oils Victimisation "Shop Steward picked off"

Dear members once again the company has picked off one of our senior shop steward of the NNC Chris was sacked after is tanker was broken down on a main road, It was a new Scania you will know if you have had one the fault with them you a driving along and you lose all the power and electric and just die on the road on you. So no power, no phone, stuck on a  main road. Chris called is depot on his own mobile that he carried switched off and in a sealed box in the meter box. The Yard  got the police out, truck of the road and on to a garage. Well that seems okay but on is return to the yard  the bastards suspend him and then sacked him for having the mobile in is tanker Oh not in is cab???? Well where did we here this before? Oh yes, Scotland another senior shop steward sacked but the bastards did not have the balls to go to Court with him.

So what are you lot going to do about it are you going to sit back? Or are you happy to let it go till you have no good men left fighting for you. We now that is company has it fair share of yes men and ass lickers that would do anything to get a new truck. But it also has a lot of good men that are not appreciated by the managers. Well when you have such bad leadership from the top what else can you expect.

Oh by the way Chris was picked for redundancy three days before this happened.

SO IT’S UP TO YOU!!!!! IT’S YOUR FIGHT!!!!!  IT’S YOUR FUTURE!!!!! SO START THINKING

I think it's disgraceful the way GB Oils treats it's drivers. "We want to become an employer of choice." Isn't that part of their mission statement? Given a choice and a better jobs market I don't think many would choose to stay the way things are right now. The management really don't seem to do themselves any favours.

Seems like a straight foward case for the Union this one why do you need any help on this??? maybe for the same reason as the union did fuck all for us over wages when we voted NO!!! but i,m not saying its right but Unite need to earn the money we pay them,

good luck Chris appeal and Unite should have this in the bag, make sure they take them all the way you shouldn,t have a prob

Why do we need yor support. Well if you dont know there is no hope and we will get what we deserve i just hope that you will not need help. Remember it is the work force that is the Union. You did not get your strike as most of the men did not have the balls for it and that the truth. You got the vote????
Good luck you are going to need it.

I agree with most of what both of you say, but the problem here is one man who thinks he can do just what he wants Dave pollock one tosser, he seems to be behind everything,

Support works both ways but from what i see is the union wont support members when they need it because quote from senior member of unite "We will only makr things worse if we turn up we can only help if they sack you"then they still wont help

Warrington is Head Office, I worked there! But alas no more......Never worked for such a company before, they say their is no blame culture...that's far from the truth and if your face doesn't fit or you are a pro active worker, your seen as a threat to some and they'll do anything to get you out....those who've been there almost a year aren't safe either.

"I'VE NEVER KNOWN SUCH A BAD PIECE OF SHIT FIRM" IT'S MANAGERS ARE RUTHLESS AND DON'T GIVE A CRAP FOR THEIR DRIVERS, BUT DO YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND? IT'S THE LACK OF BALLS THE DRIVERS HAVE. THEY DON'T STAND TOGETHER , AND THAT'S WHAT IS MAKING THEM SO WEAK AGAINST ALL THE BASTARDS WHO ARE JUST TAKING THE MICK OUT OF THE LOT OF YOU, WHO LIKE MY HUSBAND , WILL PROBABLY END UP SACKED AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY, INSTEAD OF BEING TREATED FAIRLY.THE SHOP STEWARDS NEED YOUR SUPPORT , THEY ARE THE DRIVERS WHO KNOW WHAT IT'S REALLY LIKE AND THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR NECKS ON THE LINE WITH NO BACKING. DON'T RELY ON THE TOP NOBS IN THE UNION THAT YOUR PAYING COS THEY'RE TOO INTERESTED IN GETTING BACK TO THE GOLF CLUB!

Gb are like every company. They are out to make money. Noone can think that is bad. It get bad when we have a situation like we have now, when we have middle management licking arses and covering their own backs. What we want as drivers is you stiffs in the union to follow through with what you are PAID for

  14. Re moving to GB Oils from another company. Check out regs re TUPE,the principal is that if the business you're in is sold to another, then the terms you were on cannot be any worse after the buy out. Get your Union or Citizens Advise to check for you in case there are any gotchas that mean TUPE doesn't apply.

I'm not in a Union, am not a driver and don't have any vested interest. Just happened to be browsing GB Oils when I clocked this thread so thought I'd chip in :)

I'm not a union member and neither would I envisage becoming one. End of the day the guy had his mobile in the cab/ tanker, its against company policy and should have been sacked simply because he broke company policy.
Personally, I think your making a profile out of this simply because of the status of the driver, lets be honest, you wouldn't have half as much interest if it was an every day driver would you?
