DCC what pay freeze

Dear Colleagues
By now you will all have had your letter from Paul Williams and David Pollock but what they did not tell you is this
(1) the pay freeze did not AFFECT the top of the tree in DCC just the very bottom.
(2) The top executive director Mr Tommy Breen in 2008 to 2009 got a rise of 163.000 euro and in the year of the pay freeze 2009 2010 he got a rise of 23.000 euros ONLY 23.000 thousand i here you say. Yes 3% but is bonus went from 411.00 euro to 700.000 euro that up by 289.000 euros. in total is total wage bill for 2009 2010 is 1.674 million euros.
(3) In total the top 10 in DCC got this year 7.064 million euros
So Paul the payroll costs are 50% of operating costs well they will be if that is what the top ten get what about all the rest of the directors in the group ??????????? i bet you that the wages for the rest of the work force do not get near 7.067 million euros.

SO MEN ITS UP TO YOU!!! DO YOU WANT SOME OF THAT HARD EARNED CASH THAT YOU MADE LAST WINTER OR DO YOU THINK IT'S FAIR THAT YOUR MANAGEMENT AND SHARE HOLDERS GET ALL THE REWARDS FOR YOUR HARD WORK.

well boys reading that statement above makes me wonder why were not asking for a lot more us the drivers need to stand up to them remember the only way to stop being bullied is to stand up to them
The company would run without managers but not without drivers its time we proved that so come on stand up to the bullies if we dont do it this time were screwed !!!!!!!!!!!

I am becoming increasingly disillusioned at the company's attitude towards its "greatest asset" the driver. We have all loyally supported the company through difficult economic times and continued this with steadfast determination through one of the hardest winters this country has had in years.
This pay offer should be regarded as an insult and has been cleverly delivered to ensure that we are all worried about possible redundancies. I say we are worth a bit more!, how about you?

come on drivers if you read this blog add your support so that we can gauge the feeling amongst us ! remember your bosses read this blog also ! as for me you could offer me 20% and i still want to go to the gate as im sick and tired of the bullying ! we really need to take them on ! then just maybe then we might go back to our 1 year deals ! we never had this problem with the last transport mananger !the one we have at the moment does not think we have the bottle ! and believe me he wants to take you on and if he wins watch for a pay freeze next year ! so come on lets rise up and take the challenge !!

I agree with the last comment. The bully from the north doesn't think we have the bottle to take him and the company on. Personally I think he is sadly mistaken as I don't know of a driver within this company that is happy and I warn you now that if you don't stand up and be counted, the very same bully will kick your asses so hard you'll wonder what week it is!!!!!!!!!

  10. Very very pissed off driver4:40 PM

I've been doing some calculations and have worked out that I am around 12.5% worse off than when GB Oils (tragically) took over my previous company. Coupled with this, I have not had a rise for 2 years and they offer me 3%. I make that 1.5% for each year and as the RPI is currently 5.3% they are actually asking me to take a pay cut of 3.8% when the government have just announced wide ranging increases to all of our outgoings. I'm now 16.3% worse off. Are you keeping up? One of our exectutive directors has had a 3% pay rise bringing him up to 300,000 per year, oh and then his bonus has been increased by 9% also to 300,000 per year, that's 600,000. Still keeping up? His pension has increased by 31.5%. I think I'm sort of getting the idea here. My pay drops like a stone while his pay goes through the roof. I've just been asked by my manager why I'm a bit pissed off at work. HEEEEEEEELLLLLOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! What fucking planet are you tossers living on. For christ's sake guys get a grip and tell them where to stick there insult and poor excuse for a pay rise.

I have also been doing some calculations and if GB Oils gave every driver a pay rise of 5000 per year this would be a cost of 4,500,000 assuming there are 900 drivers. Thats a lot of cash but it's still only a fraction of what we pay the top 10 in the group. Another angle is that us 900 get paid only twice what the the top 10 get paid. You get the picture?

i think we are getting the picture ! think we should dig out 45 gallon drums and punch some hols in them !lol hey us drivers dont want a strike just a fair wage ! and believe me our bosses do not want a strike either ! so if we stick together think big they will come round ! do not be scared of voting to go to the gate as they could not afford it either ! lets go brothers

He will not let the Shop Steward's go out to all the depots to see the members????? and take the ballot just have to see whats going to happen now !!!! will this be the time to tell them to go to F**K and get to the gate.

Can I just point out that this is a consultative ballot and NOT a legal ballot. Big difference!! A consultative ballot is just that, an opportunity for the union to consult it's membership on thier views i.e. the company pay offer. The next ballot (if needed) will be a legal ballot and will be conducted by an independent body. Hope this clears up any confusion.

  21. Anonymous10:14 PM

So why is the union not allowed to consult in scotland

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous6:58 PM

Well i got to vote and i am in Scotland

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous4:55 PM

Your stewards have done everything they can to conduct a proper ballot in Scotland but have been stopped from doing so. There were no such problems in England and Wales. I'll leave you to decide who stopped it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous1:30 PM

it was the fat controller that stopped the ballot ! ok drivers i now think its time we started to tell unite what we want done about it ! thats what we pay for !

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous1:46 PM

Why the hell are we allowing this to drag on and on month after month. Will the union listen to the voice of the members and let us vote on strike action NOW,not next month or the following month or the one after! GB Oils need to have a taste of their own medicine its us drivers who earn the lovely bonuses the shareholders and top managment reap and we end up getting Sod All

I am amazed that we have an amount of drivers that actually vote to accept that they are the lowest paid drivers in the oil industry. I bet it would be a different mater if the were taken off there big wagons .It just shows you that there are some people that don't have a F___en clue
