gb oils

Colleagues the UK Group Transport Manager has informed the Union that DCC Co-ordinating Committee is not a unit recognised by the Company (GB Oils) and also considering the current climate and costs involved in allowing the stewards to attend the meeting on the 22/06/09.The company cannot agree to paid leave on this occasion. Therefore, should the Stewards wish to attend the meeting, they will have to request either a holiday or unpaid leave .

"Many thanks to all those members who have kindly offered to contribute towards the loss of pay incurred by the DCC Committee Stewards. It's a fantastic gesture and demonstrates that the strength of feeling amongst the members is very high indeed!"

  2. how can the company not fund the shops stewards while they are working for their members but will fund their own forum , is it a case that the forum is easier to manipulate or is it there just to keep us quiet

  3. You're both absolutely spot on.
We would love to do something about it and are only as strong as you the members. So get behind your steward and tell others to do the same and I'm sure you will see something done about it!
    Great comments btw

  5. Well said Oilyboy. Unfortunately the freeloaders will always be, well just that, freeloaders!!! One once told me that a particular part of his contract didn't apply to him cos I negotiated it and as he's not in the union he shouldn't have to comply. I asked him if he had taken the increases in his pay that we had negotiated for him the last 5 years. I don't think I need tell you his answer. Yep I've s**t 'em!
Having said all that membership is increasing rapidly.
